Museology and Cultural Heritage: An Overview of Preservation and Conservation Practices

Museology operates as an essential connection between the preservation of cultural heritage and the active interaction of historical artefacts with modern audiences. This literature review analyses the interdisciplinary approaches of museology in the conservation and preservation of cultural heritage, highlighting contemporary methodology, digital advancements, ethical implications, and sustainability. This study analyses scholarly publications from high-impact journals published between 2020 and 2024 to identify existing trends, difficulties, and prospects in the discipline. It emphasises the amalgamation of sophisticated technologies, participatory frameworks, and ecologically sustainable practices that are influencing the dialogue on cultural heritage conservation. The paper examines the consequences of these findings for museology, promoting inclusive and progressive strategies to safeguard historical artefacts and preserve their cultural and historical significance for future generations.
