The Impact of Negotiation Strategies on The Quality of Financial Statements
Downloads
This research examines negotiation strategies and their relationship with the quality of financial statements, including the concept, elements, and types of negotiation strategies used to achieve acceptable outcomes for the parties involved. The practical aspect used a questionnaire distributed to employees of the Financial Affairs Department and the Legal Department of the Diwaniyah Education Directorate; 61 valid responses were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, arithmetic means, standard deviations, Pearson correlation, and regression-related significance testing. The findings show generally high agreement with both negotiation-strategy and financial-statement-quality indicators. A strong positive and statistically significant correlation was reported between negotiation strategies and financial statement quality (r = 0.760, p < 0.01). The study concludes that constructive and purposeful negotiation, supported by appropriate strategies and skilled negotiators, is associated with better perceived financial reporting quality and recommends negotiation approaches that preserve fairness, professional standards, and the interests of the parties involved.
