Abstract

The study assessing the role of principals' management styles in promoting teachers' job effectiveness in secondary schools, Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design, the target population for the study comprised all principals and teachers in Gwagwalada Area Council. A sample of 13 secondary schools, representing both public and private school, was selected using a simple random sampling technique. From each school, one principal and nine teachers were selected, resulting in a total of 130 respondents. The instrument used for the study was questionnaire, and the instrument achieved a reliability coefficient of 0.85. The data collected was analyze using mean and standard. The findings of the study revealed that principals’ leadership styles have a clear influence on the job effectiveness of teachers among others and it was concluded that principals who adopt transformational leadership styles positively influence teachers' job effectiveness by fostering motivation and a supportive environment. Therefore, recommendations were made among other that principals should prioritize transformational leadership to inspire and engage teachers, creating a culture of innovation and collaboration.
