Abstract

This article explores the cognitive underpinnings of the concept of "categories" in language, emphasizing their role as fundamental expressions of human thinking. Drawing from cognitive linguistics, philosophy, and psychology, the study investigates how linguistic categories emerge from and reflect conceptual structures in the human mind. The research highlights the interaction between language and cognition and demonstrates how categorization serves as a bridge between sensory experience, mental representation, and linguistic expression.
