Basic Methods of Studying Down's Syndrome

A genetic condition known as Down syndrome results in varied degrees of mental impairment. It is yet degrees of mental impairment. It is yet unknown how this chromosomal defect results in mental impairment. This article summarizes the present understanding of the neurological and cognitive characteristics of Down syndrome and draws attention to the mounting data supporting the disproportionate damage of certain brain systems,including the cerebellum,prefrontal cortex, and hippocampal formation. Ultimately, the creation of animal models with there impairments provides a means of connecting the genetic illness to its cognitive effects.
