Migration Coverage in the Die Zeit Newspaper: Analysis, Interpretation, and Attitude

This paper examines the characteristics of migration coverage in Die Zeit, one of Germany's most influential weekly newspapers. The study analyzes migration-related publications from the perspectives of journalistic discourse, media framing, lexical and stylistic features, and the author's attitude toward migration issues. Particular attention is paid to the newspaper's editorial approach to the political, economic, and social dimensions of migration. The findings indicate that Die Zeit interprets migration not merely as a security concern but as a multidimensional phenomenon closely related to human rights, social integration, labor market development, and demographic change. Practical examples demonstrate how linguistic choices, headlines, and expert opinions shape readers' perceptions and public attitudes toward migration.
