Semantic and Functional Characteristics of Adjectives in Uzbek and Turkish Discourse

This study explores the semantic and functional characteristics of adjectives in artistic discourse, focusing on Turkish and Uzbek literary texts. By examining how adjectives convey human psychological states, the research addresses a notable gap in comparative discourse analysis. The study employs a descriptive and comparative linguistic method to analyze artistic texts from both languages. Findings show that Turkish and Uzbek adjectives differ in expressing nuanced psychological conditions, reflecting deeper cultural and cognitive frameworks. Turkish adjectives tend to emphasize functional description, while Uzbek counterparts show a greater inclination toward emotional and evaluative expressions. The results contribute to a broader understanding of discourse semantics, and offer implications for cross-linguistic stylistic studies and language teaching. This research highlights the importance of adjectives in shaping narrative perception and encourages further exploration into culturally embedded discourse features.
