Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between self-leadership and psychological well-being among lecturers at private universities in the holy Kerbala Governorate. Specifically, it examines self-leadership dimensions—self-awareness and goal setting, self-reward and positive thinking, self-observation and hinting, and self-talk and belief evaluation—and their influence on the psychological well-being dimensions of independence, self-acceptance, positive relationships, purpose in life, environmental mastery, and personal development. Using a sample of 142 lecturers, data was collected through a structured questionnaire. Statistical tools like linear regression and correlation coefficient analysis were employed. Results indicate a significant positive relationship between self-leadership practices and psychological well-being, with dimensions such as self-reward and positive thinking showing the strongest correlation. The findings underscore the importance of fostering self-leadership traits to enhance well-being in academic settings. Recommendations include implementing self-leadership training, promoting supportive work environments, and encouraging professional development to improve both psychological well-being and institutional performance
